A project inspired by the Sikh practice of not cutting one's hair, the bright, rich royalty and heritage of India which is often unseen by Western media, as well as the long process involved in Indian handicrafts. It is a personal project, as I practice Sikh faith myself, and through all the changes in my life, my long hair grounds me and connects me with something larger than myself.
At its core, this series is about identity, hair, and power. I’ve moved around all my life, found different facets within myself to connect with in different cultures and surroundings - but my hair and my connection with it has not only been omnipresent, but grew stronger over time. My strength emanates through my hair - and being a Sikh girl, my hair is a really huge part of my identity. Hence, this series explores my evolving identity, and my connection with the cultures I grew up in and around.

Art direction, photography, styling, editing: Myself
Selected as one of 40 photographers to display work at VISUAL NOISE, an art fair by celebrity photographer RANKIN at notable photography space, Maryland Studio. I chose to exhibit images from this series, converting the experience into a 'phygital' one by augmenting the images with a Filter.
